ELIZABETH & JAMES FALL/WINTER 2010

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have released the first shots of their Fall/Winter 2010 collection for their Elizabeth and James line. "The fall collection plays with texture and mixes comfort with fashion,” Mary-Kate told InStyle. The line features their staple of blazers and jackets, and loose and flowy menswear shirts dresses. The line plays with leather, as seen in the overalls, and rare ostrich feathers. The girls favourite piece of the collection? "The silk drapey pant is the new skinny pant—it’s comfortable, flattering and looks great paired with heels,” Mary-Kate says.

I was in Zara yesterday and saw these exact leather overalls. It was on the sale rack. Possible foreshadowing? Photos provided by InStyle.

ELIZABETH & JAMES JEWELLERY

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's popular line Elizabeth & James has expanded into a full fledged jewellery collection. Their Fall/Winter 2010 collection sees them continuing their collaboration with Robert Lee Morris, however, his name has been dropped from the collection because the girls were the sole designers.

The line features feathers, leather, diamonds, bar rings and it has an art-deco feel to it. Just like the clothing, E & J's jewellery is not cheap. Prices range from $55 all the way up to $1200, but the average price of is around $200. It will now sell in the more upscale department store Neiman Marcus instead of Bloomingdales.

Elizabeth & James LookBook

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have released the lookbook for their Elizabeth & James Spring/Summer 2010 collection. This collection was said to be inspired by the 1980's New York fashion scene. This is the twins first collection that features both men and women's clothing.

The lookbook was shot by Roderick Angle and features black and white images. While the black and white images create an artsy feel and make the clothing seem more edgy, black and white images aren't the best way to display your clothing. I have no idea what the colour scheme for the collection is, or what textures or patterns they're using. Other than that complaint, I am a big fan of the Elizabeth & James line and this new collection.

Floral Power

Love these tulip dresses from the Elizabeth and James line. They are so boho chic, very Mary-Kate and Ashley. Think wearing them to an indie music festival this summer, or going out for dinner on your summer holidays. Dress them up with a statement necklace like this one from Emilio Pucci’s Spring 2009 collection or dress them down with a great denim or leather jacket. They’re perfect for any summer occasion, and floral is definitely a trend to look out for this summer.

Elizabeth and James is available at Holt Renfrew and you can buy online at shopbop.com.

Speaking of floral, if you are not a fan of these tulip dresses, check out these other fab finds in floral.

Elizabeth & James shoes

A few months ago we told you about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's collaboration with shoe giant Steve Madden. Well we finally have a sneak peak at the Elizabeth and James shoe collection.

The shoes are made out of ostrich (yet another eff u to PETA), suede, and pony hair, and includes a neutral colour palatte of browns, blacks and greys. Some have criticized the line saying that this shoe collection has no connection to the feel of Elizabeth and James' previous collections.

To see a video of the girls at work discussing their collection and collaboration with Steve Madden click here.

Spring 2009 Collections

Here at FABRIC we're Olsen twin apologists. We love them and their style. Even when they wear something that is absolutely ridiculous we are aware that they are not wearing it to impress us (the general public). Rather they wear those "creations" to impress the fashion big wigs (the Anna Wintours, the John Galliano's). We are well aware that they don't give a -- about what we think and we admire that. They wear what they want and look great doing so.

Lucky for us they have a line that is totally wearable and utterly amazing. Elizabeth & James is one of two fashion lines the twins have. It's Mary-Kate's baby. The Row is spearheaded by Ashley. Elizabeth & James' Spring 2009 Collection is a mixture of solid staples like white dress shirts, black pencil skirts and black vests. They use colour sparingly so it pops against the white and black pieces. The line has feminine, flowy, and fun pieces, but is also balanced with some menswear and tough metallic jewellery. The line is reminiscent of something Stella McCartney would design.

The lookbook is fun, showcasing models standing in kiddie pools, playing with a My Little Pony, playing bowling, and pushing a grocery cart. I assume they do this to show that the line can be worn in any situation and is adaptable to any lifestyle. I'm guessing, however, that you're not going to be seen picking up pony poop in a $1000 designer dress. It's just too risky.

Head on over to Elizabeth & James, click on Collection > Spring 2009 and enjoy!

Shoe Fetish

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be designing a footwear line for Steve Madden. We were ecstatic at the thought of buying funky footwear for affordable prices, especially since the young designers two other lines, Elizabeth & James and The Row, are luxery labels that usually break the bank.

Well we suppose this shoes line will be no different. Prices for the line will range from $195 to $500, which is considerably more than other Steve Madden lines which range from $70 to $250.

Well I guess we can look; we just can`t buy.
