KARL LAGERFELD DIRECTS

When Karl Lagerfeld was in Saint Tropez debuting the Chanel Cruise collection, he was also there to debut his 17 minute film called "Remember Now". This marks the designers directorial debut. But don't get it twisted. This isn't in the same vein as Tom Ford's "A Single Man". It's very closely related to fashion and features some of fashions most important models such as Heidi Mount, Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Karolina Kurkova, Baptiste Giabiconi and Leigh Lezark. The film mainly stars Elisa Sednaoui and Pascal Greggory. Lagerfeld recently spoke to WWD; "When I do a film, I see the movie before I've made it. I don't make scripts because it's written in my head. I like short one-liners."

This isn't Lagerfeld's first time behind a camera. He frequently shoots his own campaigns, recently photographing Vanessa Paradis for Chanel's Coco Cocoon bags.

CHANEL COCO COCOON

Parisian beauty and Johnny Depp's arm candy Vanessa Paradis is the new face of Chanel's Coco Cocoon bags. The ads were shot by Lagerfeld himself and feature Paradis casually dressed in chunky knit caps and sheer tops. Check out the behind the scenes video of the shoot below.

LAGERFELD, COCO AND COCA-COLA

Karl Lagerfeld claimed to have lost 90 lbs by consuming nothing but Diet Coke and steamed vegetables for a year. Lagerfeld loves his Coca-Cola. So much so that he hires Diet Coke butlers to make sure that whenever he has a craving, an ice cold, aspartame filled beverage will get to him ASAP.

Karl loves his zero calorie beverage so much that he has his own limited edition Karl Lagerfeld designed Coco-Cola Light bottle with his picture adorned on it. The bottle is aluminum and also features Lagerfeld's scripted signature. The box sets retails for about $81, which will be the most expensive pop you will ever buy.

Lagerfeld also photographed the ad campaign, which just happens to feature Canadian model Coco Rocha and Baptiste Giacobini. Both models are dressed in head-to-toe Chanel. Coco is actually holding Lagerfeld's favourite Lalique crystal goblet, which he uses to sip his Coca Cola Light (below).

Stammering Stunner

Canadian model Jessica Stam is the new face of Fendi's Fall/Winter 2009 campaign. The ads were shot by Karl Lagerfeld and will hit magazine stands later this summer.

Lily & Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld has picked Lily Allen to star in the next Chanel handbag campaign. ‘She's fun,' Lagerfeld said of Ms. Allen. The campaign shoots next week. No details have been released.

Chanel Barbie

Even Barbie can't get enough of Chanel!

We've previously mentioned that it is the 50th anniversary of Barbie. She's already had an entire fashion show dedicated to her for her birthday, and now Karl Lagerfeld has designed numerous Chanel outfits for the doll icon that range from swimsuits to jeans (does Barbie even wear jeans? I guess if they're Chanel she does.) to a wedding dress to the classic tailored black and white Chanel skirt suit.

Barbie will be joined in the photos by real life model Baptiste Giabiconi. Barbie and Ken will be on display at France's Colette boutique form March 9-28. On March 12 you can attend a "high security exhibition" of the first Barbie and Ken dolls ever created. You can also purchase the silkscreen pictures of Barbie and Ken. Karl Lagerfeld makes a special appearance alongside Barbie as a white teddy bear wearing Lagerfeld's usual uniform of black sunglasses, black suit, and tie.

Even though they're just Barbie clothes, we still probably couldn't afford these Chanel pieces. UGH! Barbie does have the perfect life.

Legendary Lagerfeld Stops Traffic

Karl Lagerfeld, the renound designer behind Chanel and the Karl Lagerfeld label, has taken a different route (no pun intended) in his publicity recently. The 'Kaiser' now appears on billboards across France promoting road safety. Lagerfeld is shown wearing a neon yellow safety vest, with the intent of encouraging the citizens of France to take the initiative and wear safety vests, despite how ugly they are, in case of emergency where one has to pull their car over. Hopefully this ad will convince the stylish citizens of France to put fashion in check in the name of safety. It will soon become a national law that every car must be equiped with the vests, along with a road triangle kit.

This attempt to grab the public's attention seems to be working, considering whatever Lagerfeld says, seems to go.

The ads feature the King of Couture along with text that translates, "It’s yellow, it’s ugly, it doesn’t match anything, but it might save your life." Not surprisingly, Lagerfeld seems to pull off the look. If only we could all look so hip in yellow safety vests.
