End of the Catwalk

After 17 years in Bryant Park, New York Fashion Week is moving to Lincoln Center's 87,000 square-foot Damrosch Park in 2010.

An official announcement was made by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stating that “Fashion Week has found a new home practically tailored (pun intended?) to its needs”. “It has not been easy to find a place for us, a place that was big enough, that was centralized enough, that was right enough," echoed designer and CFDA president, Diane von Furstenberg. "Since we're starting afresh we will try to make them better than the previous one."

Luckily there will still be 3 fashion weeks in Bryant Park.

Seymour for Hermes

We at FABRIC love a supermodel throwback! Stephanie Seymour, infamous '90s catwalk queen, marched down the runway for Hermes' Spring/Summer 09 show during Paris Fashion Week. This 40 year old mother of 4 could not have looked any better! Commenting on Jean Paul Gauthier's latest designs, Seymour said, "Jean Paul loves women and dresses us in a feminine and very sensual way. I thought it was like Pocahontas chic". This effort from Hermes also shows another throwback - to the equestrian roots that started the fashion label. We at FABRIC love the floppy brown suede hats Hermes is showing for next Spring/Summer!

Notably, Naomi Campbell also took the Hermes runway by storm for the launch of their 'Cowboy Chic' design concept. These ladies showed the crowd some classic '90s attitude and looked nothing short of fierce. We're loving the new Hermes direction and can't wait to see what else is in store for Spring/Summer 2009! So, what's that you say about old dogs learning new tricks? (We kid!).

Fashion Parties!

We at FABRIC Magazine absolutely adore L'oreal Fashion Week! We hope you've taken some time to check out our Runway Reports; as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and we are doing our best to do these beautiful designs justice. We are having a ball at Fashion week and are so lucky to be working with some very talented stylists and team members from FABRIC alike to give you full coverage of Spring/Summer 2009!

Some of the things we love most about Fashion Week are the after parties! What better way to relax, schmooze, and celebrate beautiful clothing than to kick back with Toronto's most vibrant fashionistas in the hottest spots in the city? Last night the FABRIC team was at Toronto's trendy Drake Hotel to kick off Fashion Week with a bang. This bash was in celebration of Katya Revenko's 'Desperately Different' line, sponsored by Samsung for their CLEO phone launching in November. Cake gave away a gift bag to one lucky attendee; check out what they have to offer at www.cakebeauty.com

The party was great and good times were had by all. Check out the pictures below and see what a rocking time we had. See you at the shows, and don't forget your camera!

Ruby Red

Last night Swarovski and Warner Bros. collaboratively held an opening event to mark a year long campaign that will surely make fashion history. To mark the 70th anniversary of the release of the iconic film, The Wizard of Oz and Dorothy's infamous Swarovski-adorned Ruby Red Slippers, Swarovski's CRYSTALLIZED line and Warner Bros. teamed up with several of the world's most designers to create an exciting Ruby Slipper Collection for the in-store SAKS Gala. The proceeds from the event last night will go towards the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The display will be shown at the SAKS Fifth Avenue store starting this week and will continue through to 2009, which is the official mark for the anniversary of Dorothy's debut. No word on the Wicked Witch of the West.

For more information on the event, as well as the designers involved, check out the press release at http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/warner/34726
